Wraparound Program
The Wraparound Program is designed to identify the assets and needs of the whole family, and to coordinate comprehensive and unconditional services from the community to "wraparound" the child and family.
For each family, a Wraparound Coordinator works in consort with a Child and Family Team and a Community Team.
A Child and Family Team is composed of the people most familiar with the family: parents, family members, neighbors selected by the family, service providers, and community members.
The function of the Child and Family team is:
- Participate in the asset/need assessment
- Develop a wraparound plan
- Establish crisis and safety plans
- Support implementation of plan
- Monitor services
- Evaluate results
The Community Team is composed of service providers, schools, local government, community members, and parents.
The function of the Community Team is:
- Identify local services to meet the goals of the family wraparound plan
- Set priority for service
- Assess possible barriers to service
- Plan and implement strategies to remove barriers
- Assist in establishing services needed but not available
Both teams and the coordinator work to make "unconditional care" a possibility. This means if a service isn't available, create it! If a need changes, change the service to meet the need. Never, as a community or family, give up!
