Wheels Program
About the Program
The Wheels Program is a collaboration between the Good Will Farm and the Copper Country Intermediate School District (ISD). The Good Will Farm recruits individuals, banks, car dealerships, and other businesses to donate used cars. Automotive students in the ISD Career & Technology Education Center perform repairs and safety checks on the donated cars. The Good Will Farm then gives the reconditioned vehicles to families in need for the cost of any new parts (usually a nominal fee).
To Donate
Simply call the Good Will Farm! A staff member will assess your vehicle and gather information. The ideal vehicle is not older than twelve years and in running condition. But all donations will be considered! Your charitable gift is tax deductible based on its fair market retail value.
To Receive
Local agencies and churches make referrals of individuals or families in need, and the Good Will Farm Task Force determines eligibility and priority, based on availability to work, the number of dependents, medical considerations, etc.
Who Benefits?
Families! Although the gift may not be a dream car, it does allow those in need to realize their dreams of obtaining and keeping a job, getting to the store, doctor, children's activities, etc.
Donors! Besides the tax break, donors get to see that old vehicle they love so dearly be used to help others.
Students! Local students, who are learning automotive skills while supervised by professionals, also experience the satisfaction of learning while helping others.
Community! We all gain by strengthening our neighbors.
